If you've already tried all troubleshooting steps and contacted our support team but still have playback issues, we understand how frustrating that can be. While we strive to provide the best streaming experience, here’s what you need to know about how BritBox delivers content.
How BritBox Streaming Works
BritBox streams at the highest available quality and does not automatically adjust video quality based on internet speed. Unlike some bigger streaming services, we do not use robust dynamic bitrate adjustment, which lowers video quality when a connection slows to prevent buffering.
As a result, users with fluctuating or lower internet speeds, or older devices, may experience buffering or interruptions.
What You Can Do Next
If you’re still having trouble after troubleshooting, here are a few additional things to try:
- Try a different device. If you’re using an older Smart TV or streaming device, switching to a newer device—such as a streaming stick (Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV) or a computer—may improve performance.
- Use a wired connection. Connect your device to your internet router using an Ethernet cable instead of Wi-Fi if possible. A direct connection is often more stable and faster.
- Watch on another platform. If buffering persists on your current platform, try watching on a different platform (e.g., a web browser, mobile app, or other TV device).
-
If available, consider using one of our supported partner platforms, such as Amazon Prime Channels. If you choose to subscribe through a partner like Amazon Prime, be sure to cancel your direct BritBox subscription to avoid being charged twice.
